Short Biographical Sketch

Dr. James M. Thompson's training and experience covers a broad area, including small business ownership, law, chemical manufacturing and university training. He received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Delware in organometallic chemistry in 1975. He has organized and managed a successful chemical manufacturing company. He served with the judiciary for New Castle County Delaware, worked as a manufacturing chemist with the DuPont company and is currently serving as professor of Chemistry at Alabama A & M University. For eight years, he conducted research for NASA in the area of thermal analysis and quadrupole mass spectrometry. He is the author of the Handbook of Small Business Organization and Management and three manuals pertaining to the interpretation of Mass Spectra, Infrared and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. He has authored several articles and a number of scientific reports. His area of specifalization includes mass spectrometry, thermal analysis and FTIR spectroscopy.
